Bible Reading Guide
Reading the Bible is a foundational discipline for a follower of Christ. Establishing a habit of Bible reading is essential if the Word is to dwell in our hearts: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16a). Enjoying a pattern of Bible reading is a source of joy for our hearts: “the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart” (Psalm 19:8a); and “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart” (Jeremiah 15:16a). Practicing consistent Bible reading is the means the Holy Spirit uses to show us the glory of Jesus and then to be changed by the glory of Jesus: “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
The Bible reading guide for 2026 through 2027 will be a new arrangement. This 2-year Bible reading guide will have two tracks, which provides three different approaches for consistent Bible reading. The first track will consist of five readings per week and will cover sixty-five Books of the Bible. The reading sequence of this first track will be in the order that the Books are found in our Bibles. This first track will average two to three chapters per day for each week’s five-day calendar. The second track will consist of three reading per week and will cover the Book of Psalms. The second track will average one to two chapters for each week’s three-day calendar. The first track will read through every Book of the Old and New Testaments (with the exception of Psalms) over the course of two years. The second track will read through the Psalms twice over the course of two years. You can chose which track you wish to start; or you can chose to start both tracks.
While I will be attempting to read through both tracks, I will slow down my reading to put more focus on the second track. I will post my reflections on the Psalms for each day that there are Psalms scheduled. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I will provide some of the results of my study on the Psalms. These postings will be available through the church website. Click on the Blog tab for each new posting or if you use a blog feeder app, sign up for the blog feeds to come straight to you.
Physical Copies of this new reading guide will be available from the literature rack in the main hallway at church. A PDF file of year one is available below for download. Click on the Ministries tab and then click on the Bible Reading Banner. A version that you can download directly into you iPhone calendar, is available. Here is track one readings. Here is track two readings.
Whether you use this option or some other approach, I pray that you will consistently read God’s Word.
